Traffic Rant!

Ok, can we just take a second to address the way people drive in Karachi?! I should probably say that any person that's ever sat in my car knows that I have really bad road rage, like even a random aunty or uncle that I've had to drop 'that one time'! I would get so mad at drivers in organized places that I've lived in, so you can only imagine how I am here in the middle of all this mayhem! And if you can't imagine then have a conversation with my brother or my husband lol, they both hate it!

I used to love driving, and ever since I've moved to Karachi I've honest to God been terrified to step out. There are no lanes, no one stops you for crossing a red light, the streets have random ditches that you constantly have to be on the watch for, but all that is NOTHING compared to the motorbikes. Before I get into my rant, let me first say that I have nothing against motorbikes what I'm against is the drivers. They will come at you from ALL DIRECTIONS,like no exaggeration. The other day I was turning left, I had indicated...I was half turned and a whole bunch of motorbikes decided to just cross by my from my left. WHO DOES THAT?! Apart from that, it literally feels like they drive with both eyes closed in fact I wouldn't be surprised if I found out that they did. They will just barge into whatever situation they want and you have to have a heart attack trying to not hit them. If a car hits a motorbike, chances of the person on the motorbike getting hurt are way higher than the person in the car....you'd think that would be enough to make people pause a second before doing the things they do, but rest assured...it does not. What really gets to me is when there's a whole family with them and they risk everyone 's lives just to be two seconds faster...like where on Earth are you going to get to by being two seconds faster? Let me find out where this place is! And then they overtake you from so close, I get so much anxiety every time they pass by leaving a millimeter of space!

The fact that you're constantly in stress trying to avoid these drivers is bad enough, but what really gets under my skin...I mean REALLY gets to me is when you honk at them and they have the audacity to glare at you like you're in the wrong. Like, excuse me......and some of them not only glare but have all their hand gestures ready to go too. The fact that I actually haven't purposely hit someone who has done this is a BIG achievement for me. Sometimes I have this discussion with my husband about how badly I feel like scaring them by not stopping and I see him panicking and trying to make sure I'm "joking"! But on the real....I really wish Sindh government or whoever is responsible for roads would address this issue. It literally could save so many lives and it could create some type of a pleasant ride for the rest of the world that has to deal with them. Not to say car drivers are all innocent, and follow the rules but I can only speak for myself and I definitely know I don't do that nonsense. Any ideas?!
