It's that time of year where everyone is scrambling to get their Eid looks together while fasting (no easy feat, I assure you)! You know how they say 'never go grocery shopping when you're hungry'? Well, for me at least, that also applies to shopping. There are a number of times when I've gone out shopping while fasting and come home with the weirdest collection of stuff. And, I'm not talking about dealing with Karachi heat during fasting. I never lived in Pakistan before I got married, we would always come visit, so I had the advantage of refusing to go to Pakistan during Ramadan and even then I would buy the most outlandish things thinking 'I MUST get this'. If there are others like me, I thought I would make a list of summer's hottest trends so when you're out you at least know what things NOT to get!

Metallic:

Every designer has embraced this trend for the summer, whether it's for formal wear or casual. You will notice some type of sequins or crystals or something similar on almost everything! Casual obviously will have some traces here and there, while the formal wear is fully decked out! When you're getting your clothes made, make sure to buy some lace or buttons or things that have some metallic so that even something simple can have that pop! So this summer, at the risk of sounding cheesy, I guess you could say "bling it on"! Teena Durrani and Sania Maskatiya had some amazing metallic clothes!

Fringe:

Almost anything and everything has fringe. Shirts, pants, bags, earrings and even shoes! Of course make sure to not get fringe on everything...pick and choose! How long or short you keep your fringe is entirely up to you, some designers have really long ones and other are shorter. In the HUM Showcase, Sapphire really took to the fringe trend!

Monochrome:

Monochrome I feel is a classic, you can wear it at anytime and you'll look good! It also has a slimming effect, so it's a win win. I am an absolute fan of black and white, even in the summers! All white is a classic summer staple! Or you can do shades of the same color too! Ali Xeeshan and Rizwan Beyg, among many others had some really nice monochrome pieces!

Pastels:

Summertime calls for pastel colors, and so do the designers! Pastel shades are just perfect for the summer because literally when you look at the soft colors you instantly feel a little cooler and that's exactly what we need to feel in this heat! Inaaya and Sana Safinaz had some stand out looks in pastels

For pants, skin tight stuff is not being worn this summer. Instead loose flowy ones seem to be taking over. There is the bootleg cut, bubble pants, tulip shalwar and cigarette pants.

Honestly, because I'm still getting used to Karachi heat and humidity I now make sure that whatever occasion it is, I'm dressed in silhouettes and materials that won't make me boil! Eid especially, when there's bound to be an Eid lunch or dinner at your place and then add a baby into the mix and you'll know exactly what I mean! I've added pictures for inspiration, Happy Eid shopping ya'll!

xx
